The Ed Posh Scholarship Fund
The Ed Posh Scholarship Fund was founded in December of 1995. The purpose of the Scholarship fund is to financially assist local area youth in attending college or career training. Initially, money was raised through a special fundraising drive in 1996 and then subsequently, through the first Annual Ed Posh Scholarship Shootout golf event. The immediate goal of the fund is to award at least four renewable scholarships each year. In 2007, the fund will award four (4) new $2,500 scholarships, which are renewable for up to four years and have a potential value of $10,000 over a student's four-year course of education. During 2007 there will be 16 scholars in school, who will collectively receive $40,000 in assistance. To date, the fund has awarded over $300,000 in scholarships and there are 46 Posh Scholar graduates. The long-term goal of the fund is to continue to raise funds until the fund becomes a self-sustaining endowment covering all future awards and allowing for an increase in the annual scholarship amount. Since 1995, contributions have helped grow the fund to just over $500,000.
The Ed Posh Scholarship Fund is a non-for-profit corporation with tax-exempt status created under the 501©(3) section of the IRS code and procedures.
